Ian Grainger, Printmaker 14.02.09-14.03.09

etching by Ian Grainger

Ian Graingers images come from reading and research, from exploration of old books, papers and documents in museums, university libraries and public and private archives in Rome, Florence, Venice, Perugia, London and Chicago. Themes such as hypothetical and real construction, mechanics, motion, the odd realities of time and the apparently insignificant but crucial details of observed objects are constantly reappraised. His work pins down ideas which often go unnoticed, but when isolated can become intensified, complex and interesting.
