The relationship between the city, its art and its inhabitants has proved dynamic since the Renaissance. Cultural regeneration, cultural quarters, cultural capital are terms glibly quoted by city developers. Where does art fit into this and how does a city demonstrate support and belief. This exhibition explores, presents and acknowledges Cardiff Councils role as civic patron, not just in making civic monuments, but in supporting the idea of artists living and working here and in promoting their output.
