What makes a good photograph? What’s the point of criticism? Thinking Photography is a dynamic workshop responding creatively and critically to the festival exhibitions. In a small group, explore a multitude of ways to interpret photographs, and try out different techniques of writing about images while responding to the festival exhibitions. We’ll discuss ideas such as identity, power, gaze, tradition and aesthetics and methods of interpreting photographs. You’ll find out about different approaches to photography criticism – from blogs to reviews to poetry. Each participant will have the opportunity to submit your writing for Diffusion website.
